Precious Metal Clay - Silver and Gold is a revolutionary new product to the changing world of jewellry in the last few years. This amazing product has only been available in Australia a couple of years. The versatility of how this clay like form can be worked with is open to the imagination. Firing, either by torch, hot pot or klin, the organic binders burn out and the result is 99.9% Fine Silver or 24crt Gold.
Precious Metal Clay (PMC) was developed by Mitsubishi in the 1990s. It is a combination of binders and metal particles to create a material with the working properties of modeling clay, know as precious metal clay. An organic binder provides elasticity while holding very tiny grains of metal in suspension. After the water is driven off, the object is heated to the fusing temperature od the consitituent metal. During heating, the binding material burns away, which causes the object to shrink to a degree equal to the volume originally occupied by the binder. Silver and gold are available. Being a water-soluble product it is available in the form of lump, sheet, slip, and ready-to-use syringes. At Danglley Bits and Things we can supply all your Precious Metal Clay needs.
